2013 was a big year for my little family (which includes me, Greg, and my two pillow pets, Uni and Fred). 2013 will forever be the year we said, “Peace out societal rules! We’re off to see the world!” Yea, it was scary (like, really scary). But we did it and I wouldn’t trade one minute of it! Not even one of those 30 minutes where I was locked out of our unconditioned Thailand bungalow in my underwear.
I miss traveling.
This world has so much to see.
So, to stop myself from jumping on the next plane out of here I like to go back and look through my Instagram profile. Day dreaming about the beaches of Thailand, the amazing sunsets in Boracay, or drooling over the thought of a gyro in Greece has become a weekly obsession of mine. This week, I thought I would take you along with me down that Instagram memory lane. One glorious 2013 month at a time.
We started off 2013 in San Francisco, CA. After 4 and 1/2 years there, it was hard to say goodbye.
An afternoon skipping rocks on Lake Tahoe.
March 25, 2013 we were packed up and ready for our 6 month adventure.
First stop: Tokyo, Japan where we were welcomed by the start of cherry blossom season.
That time we got tricked into eating RAW horse.
Swimming with whale sharks in Cebu, Philippines.
One of those pretty sunsets I was telling you about in Boracay, Philippines.
Enjoying a glass of wine at the top of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Spa day in Ubud, Bali.
Watching the sunset on the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Reading a book on Phra Nang Beach with this lovely view.
Eating pad thai from our favorite street food stall in Bangkok, Thailand.
Posing with this little guy.
“Grocery shopping” at Mueang Mai Market when we lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand for a month.
Rooting for the Chiang Mai FC Tigers with some of my favorite people.
Almost burning off my eyebrows in a Thai cooking class (you gotta watch this video).
Rome. Don’t even get me started on Rome.
Sipping our first spritzes on the Grande Canal in Venice, Italy.
Spaghetti Carbonara in Italy.
Oia in Santorini, Greece.
Falling in love with the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.
Never ending fields of sunflowers in Loire Valley, France.
Trying to get a selfie with the REAL Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland
Bangers and Mash in London, obviously.
We got back to the U.S. September 6th, but couldn’t head home to Cali until we made a visit to the top of the Empire State Building where Greg asked me to marry him. *Spoiler alert* I said yes. Twice.
Running (a.k.a. walking) a 5k color run with my sister and mommy.
The first concert I ever went to was Blink 182 when I was about 15 years old. They were just as good at 28 years old.
Baking Christmas cookies with one of my best friends.
I’m sure I’ll have a few more incredible moments in these last couple weeks of 2013. But even if I don’t I always have these incredible memories. 2013, you were good to me.
