Bali is my absolute favorite place we have been on this trip so far. So I have a little 3 part blog series to go over all the reasons why it’s the most amazing place on the planet and to convince you that it is a VERY good idea to buy your ticket there right now. A quick search on the internets and I found you a 31 hour travel day, with 3 stopovers, for a mere $2,182*! It’s roundtrip and you get to stop in Sydney, Australia on your way home! Totally worth it. I think you’ll agree after these next 3 posts.
(*We paid $82 for a direct flight from Singapore…Just a bit of a difference!)
- Part 1 of Why You Should Immediately Empty Your Bank Account And Go To Bali Right Now
I’ll never forget the day we arrived in Bali. Our Airbnb host graciously picked us up at the airport and took us to his home where we would be staying for the next few days. Our host, Aron, then showed us to his favorite restaurant that was right on the beach, he ordered an amazing dinner and a bottle of wine for us, and left us to enjoy our first evening in Bali in the warm sand. It all felt like it went so fast. One minute we were going through one of those dreaded travel days that we have grown to ditest so much, and the next we had met the nicest man in Bali and were eating a feast under the moon. Another bonus to the night…Aron new the restaurant owners and we got a major discount on our meal. Sweet!
Although we were only at Aron and his wife, Roxanne’s, home for a couple days we immediately became family with them. They made us a delicious breakfast every morning. We talked over coffee and tea for hours. Aron speaks English very well, and he loved to practice with us to get even better. Roxanne spoke very little English, but when we came back to see them 2 weeks later before we left Bali she had already learned so much! I can’t wait to meet her again and be able to have a full conversation with her.
Their home is absolutely amazing. All the small details and the pool and the outdoor living style. I could see Greg and I being the next Aron and Roxanne someday. They are our Bali family and I can’t wait to go back and visit them.
Our next full day in Bali we did a little exploring and wound up finding Greg’s favorite beach! I liked the beach too, but I’m a Thailand girl when it comes to awesome beaches!
This is Balangan Beach found on the south west side of Bali. It has turquoise water…
A few little warongs (Indonesian food stalls) to grab a beer and some nasi goreng and watch the surfers…
And it has a pretty nice sunset.
Are you getting closer to digging into that savings account to buy your ticket to Bali yet? Well, maybe this will help you more active wanderlust’ers:
Kuta Beach, the place Greg learned to surf! That’s him riding his first wave. I mean the actual first wave that came up behind him he hopped up on his board and rode it like a champ! I couldn’t believe it. I did a little woohoo for him as I sat under my beach umbrella taking pictures.
For $35 Greg got a private surf lesson and a board rental all day. And I got to sit on their shaded beach chairs to watch. Not bad!
While all that was going down, I got my nails done by a lovely lady.
Only downside so far since we had been in Bali was the fact that sand really likes freshly painted toes..
I could live with that.
P.S. Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 coming soon. If you’re not convinced yet, you’re really going to want to hop on the next plane to Bali after you see the amazingness that is Gili Trawangan and Ubud!
